Alderman to be interim MSA director

Carol Alderman has been named interim director of the Mississippi School of the Arts in Brookhaven.
Alderman is the former director of the Mississippi School of Math and Science in Columbus.
She will take the reins as interim director as until a full-time director is chosen.
MSA Executive Director Vicki Lambert, the schools first leader. is retiring June 30.
The school is a home-away-from-home for students studying visual arts, theater and music. Other courses, such as math and science, are taught at nearby Brookhaven High School.
The school opened in 2003 on the campus of what was Whitworth College.
The state Board of Education is searching for a new director at the Arts School.
