Local woman dies in two vehicle accident

A fatal crash on Texas Flat Top Road in Hancock County involved a Picayune woman.
The accident took place Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m. on the newly opened road and involved a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by 25 year-old Robin Ashley Barber of Picayune and a 2006 Peterbilt truck, according to a press release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
The two vehicles collided in the roadway, according to the release. Barber was pronounced dead on the scene by Hancock County Coroner Norma Stiglet.
Tommy Glenn Mallet, 52 of Saucier was driving the dump truck. He was taken to Hancock Medical Center and was released after receiving treatment.
“As of now, we are still gathering and analyzing evidence,” said Hancock County Sheriff Steve Garber in the release.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Matthew Carver is in charge of the investigation. The accident scene was worked by NASA Buffer Zone officer Sgt. Ron Borja, Hancock Sheriff’s Deputy Al Herman, Hancock Sheriff’s Sgt. Charles Lafontaine, Kiln Volunteer Fire Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the release states.
