Edward Scott Yancey is scheduled for trial Sept. 8 on state charges of child molestation and failure to register as a sex offender.
Prosecutors allege Yancey fondled three different boys he had helped coach as a volunteer with the Long Beach Recreation League. Prosecutors say the boys were ages 10 to 12 when the incident is alleged to have occurred.
On July 8, Yancey will be sentenced in federal court on a firearms violation. He was convicted on a federal pornography charge in 1998 after pleading guilty to using a computer to transmit sexually explicit pictures. The conviction prohibits him from having a firearm.
Court records show an acquaintance whose son had played on Yancey’s team had taken two firearms from Yancey.
