The search committee charged with hiring a successor for University of Mississippi chancellor Robert Khayat is meeting this week on the Oxford campus.
The seven-member state College Board committee was to begin its day Tuesday listening to Ole Miss vice chancellors and athletic director Pete Boone. The group will also meet with different constituency groups, including academic and non-academic administrators.
The committee is expected to write a position description and advertisement and constituency groups will soon thereafter begin offering names of potential candidates. The College Board has expressed a hope to have Khayat’s successor named before his retirement takes effect on June 30.
Khayat announced in January that he will retire after 14 years as the university’s leader.
