The Gulfport City Council will allow Mississippi cottages as permanent housing within city limits with some restrictions.
All the neighbors living within a 160 foot radius of a cottage, must agree to allow it. The cottages, provided after Hurricane Katrina, must be owner occupied, and not rented to a third party.
Cottage owners must also have a foundation in place for the structure by May 1, 2009.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has a March 1 deadline to remove cottages from areas and localities where they cant stay.
