Lee Co. sheriff issues warning to careless hunters

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says careless hunters are firing stray bullets into homes in rural areas of his county and he wants to put an end to the problem before someone gets hurt.
Johnson says this year he is getting quite a few telephone calls about people hunting near homes and occasionally shooting houses by accident. The sheriff says he’s even gone home to stray bullet holes in the side of his house.
Johnson is urging hunters to practice safety.
There is no gun ordinance prohibiting firing a firearm in Lee County, so people are free to discharge weapons if they have a license to hunt.
