The Picayune Police Department has established a suspect in the shooting and car jacking that took place on Dec. 3, at PC’s Car Wash.

A security camera at a Pearl River County convenience store caught some images that the victim has verified are that of the suspect involved in the crime, said Picayune Police Public Information Officer Theresa Milar.

The suspect in the images is described as a black male, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He has a pulled-back ponytail, possibly in dread locks, and was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap worn backwards and dark clothes.

The suspect came up behind the victim as the victim was cleaning his car and demanded the victim’s keys to his car. When the victim attempted to turn around, he was shot twice, once in the forearm and once in his stomach. The suspect took the victim’s white, four-door 1991 Chevrolet Caprice with 22-inch chrome rims. A press release from the department states the tag on the stolen vehicle is a Pearl River County tag with characters PRG154 on it.

A .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun is believed to have been used by the suspect in the assault. It is believed that the suspect was dropped off at the car wash at the time of the attack by another unknown subject possibly driving a red Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with tinted windows and a sun roof. Tag identification on the suspect vehicle is not available at this time, the release states.

The video taken at the county gas station was secured about 30 minutes after the crime took place, Milar said. Using the video, another law enforcement agency in Slidell, La., was able to take still images, which were shown to the victim. Milar said the victim identified the person in the video as being involved in the crime.
