The Mississippi Gulf Coast will receive $60 million for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
The funding had been redirected to a housing program following Hurricane Katrina, but state officials say the money is now being restored.
Trudy Fisher, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, has met with Governor Haley Barbour to discuss the funds. She says the governor is committed to restoring the money and no projects will fall behind schedule.
The funds are being supplied through a disaster recovery initiative of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
