Filmmakers expected in Mississippi to capture region’s blues impact
Twenty-eight filmmakers have been selected to come to Mississippi to document the birthplace of the blues at the behest of the National Black Programming Consortium’s 2007 New Media Institute.
Organizers say the New Media Institute will be held Nov. 11-16 in Jackson and will result in creating original projects about the Delta region.
They say the filmmakers will come from across the country and work primarily at Jackson State University and Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
They will go to sites along the Mississippi Blues Commission’s Blues Trail and travel to the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center.
