Julia Anderson, Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain, and Buster Smith, head of maintenance at Poplarville High School, show high school students the correct method of preparing a tree’s roots for planting at the school on Friday. Anderson said 24 trees were donated to the school as part of the Replant South Mississippi grant program, including 12 nuttal oaks and 12 bald cypress trees. The goal of the Replant program is to replant 300,000 trees in the six coastal counties.
