Earlier this month a man died in a fatal car accident.

The accident took place on April 7, on Restertown Road near Redbird Road. The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department received a call that an accident had occurred on the road.

From the investigation it appeared the driver of the vehicle was David Canaban Jr., 30, of 34 Oliver Davis Rd., Picayune. Apparently Canaban negotiated a curve on Restertown Road too wide and lost control of his vehicle. After leaving the road Canaban’s vehicle hit a street sign, three mail boxes, a culvert and finally a tree, said Chief Investigator Shane Tucker.

As with any fatal accident blood was been taken from Canaban to test for the possibility of intoxicating substances, Tucker said. The results of the test were not available at press time.
