A previously accused sex offender’s preliminary hearing was postponed another month in order to set bond.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Christa Groom said that on Feb. 20, Justice Court Judge John Mark Mitchell set bond at $1 million cash for Lonnie Mark Faulk, 44, of 202 S. Jackson Ave., Picayune. If Faulk chooses to have his preliminary hearing it will be held March 20 in Millard at the Criminal Justice Center.
Faulk was charged with sexual battery of a 14 year-old girl while he was out on a $40,000 bond for a previous charge of felony child molestation in Picayune last month.
In 2004 Faulk was tried on charges of child molestation and sexual battery in Pearl River County Circuit Court. After two attempts on a conviction the case was ordered to be Nolle Prosequi, or no longer tried, due to difficulty in sustaining burden of proof for a third trial.
