A federal inmate already serving a 40-year sentence has been charged with accessory to murder in the slayings of two people in Lawrence County 20 years ago, officials said.
Ira A. Boudreaux, 55, was charged with two counts in connection with the deaths of Brock and Annie Burnette in South Lawrence County on Feb. 21, 1986, said Sheriff Joel Thames.
Boudreaux has served 19 years in federal prison for conspiracy and extortion, Thames said.
Boudreaux, formerly of Jessup, Ga., was located in an Atlanta federal prison three years ago, Thames said.
While Boudreaux was interviewed in Atlanta, Thames said he was able to extradite the inmate based on information he obtained with the assistance of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and Assistant District Attorney Doug Miller.
Boudreaux was booked on Sunday and was awaiting arraignment in the Lawrence County Jail, Thames said.
