Picayune Item gets a special visitor — Flat Stanley

Hello everybody. My name is Flat Stanley and I am a little boy who was flattened like a pancake by my bulletin board one night while I was sleeping. As a result I can go anywhere I want to in an envelope.
Last week, I was sent to visit the grandparents of a student at Meigs South Elementary in Decatur, Tenn. The grandparents live in Picayune, MS.
I am very honored to be here and this is my first time visiting. While I was in town, I couldn’t resist stopping in to meet the folks at the Picayune Item. I figured since they are a paper, I would fit right in, ha, ha.
The friendly people at the paper decided to adopt me while I was in town, and take me on many adventures. I will be frequently emailing the class back at Meigs South Elementary to let them know how I am, and what I am doing in Picayune.
The Item has also decided to make me into a local celebrity and write about my adventures in the paper. Please follow along with me as I go from place to place. The stories will come out on Wednesdays and Sundays in the Lifestyles section until I have to go back to Tennessee on January 30th.
If you happen to see me out and about on the town, please stop and say “hi”.
Talk to you soon and thanks for welcoming me to Picayune.
