The Friends of the Library is reviving an event that was popular a number of years ago: The Brown Bag Lunch Book Review. The first one will be this Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Bring your lunch and a beverage will be provided along with some food for thought. Beverly Creel will review “The Blair Years–The Alastair Campbell Diaries”. This recently published book gives a powerful portrayal of contemporary British politics with compelling views from British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s press secretary, spokesman, strategist, and friend. Campbell kept a daily journal throughout the years he spent with Blair. From the rise of the Labor Party, to the death of Princess Diana; the war on terror and Iraq; the politics of Northern Ireland are some of the controversial issues he chronicled in his journal.
Creel is a Master Story Teller. She has been an active patron of the Crosby Memorial Library since she was in the third grade. She recently joined the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Friends of the Library Board as the Book Review Chairman.
She is a retired Registered Nurse, a fifth generation Picayune resident, and has lived in Picayune all her life. She has three adult children who live here as well, and two grandchildren.
A group of library patrons showed interest in the revival of book reviews, and the Friends of the Library is proud to respond to those requests with this first event. The Brown Bag Lunch Book Review is free to the public and everyone is invited to attend.
