James Edward Coward

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — James Edward Coward, a native of Gallatin, Tenn., and a resident of Fairhope, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

James retired from NASA at Stennis Space Center as a project manager responsible for on-line support of the Space Shuttle’s main engine testing.

He graduated from Auburn in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Societies. He served our Country in Europe with the 285th Engineering Combat Battalion where he earned a Purple Heart.  He was a talented wood worker, a wonderful father, husband and friend.

He is survived by: his wife Stella, of Fairhope; children: Dr. Joe Coward and his wife Debbie of Mesa, Colo., Tim Coward of Fairhope, and Dr. Beth Coward of Fairhope; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his beloved nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Friday, March 21, 2014, at 11:30 a.m.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m until the service time.

Interment will follow in Montrose Cemetery. Arrangements by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. of Fairhope.
