Officers at the Picayune Police Department received a thoughtful surprise Tuesday when local Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Delisa Lockett-Carter delivered gifts as part of an “Adopt-A-Cop” program she organized.
The initiative, described as a “gift extravaganza” by the department, included contributions from businesses and individuals from Picayune and surrounding areas, including Slidell and New Orleans. Lockett-Carter spearheaded the effort to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by local law enforcement.
According to the Picayune Police Department, Lockett-Carter has lived in the community since 2005 and has worked as a CNA for over 17 years. Her passion for law enforcement stems from family ties to the New Orleans Police Department, where several of her relatives served, some making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The gifts were distributed among officers and staff, and the department described the event as a moment filled with love and effort from everyone involved.
“This is just further proof that we have the best community around,” the department shared in a statement.
The Picayune Police Department extended its gratitude to Lockett-Carter and all who supported the program, highlighting the positive impact of her initiative on the department and the community it serves.
