The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported a historic low unemployment rate of 3% for Mississippi in March 2024.
Governor Tate Reeves commented on the development: “This reflects positively on Mississippi’s economic trajectory. We continue to witness significant private sector investment and job creation, demonstrating the state’s economic strength.”
This milestone adds to Mississippi’s recent successes. The state has been recognized among the top five states for high-quality pre-K education and boasts a high school graduation rate surpassing the national average. Additionally, Mississippi leads the nation in fourth-grade reading and math improvements.
In the first month of 2024 alone, Mississippi saw a record-breaking $12 billion new private sector investment, including a historic $10 billion commitment from Amazon Web Services, set to create 1,000 jobs.
