Scottie Amos, a 26-year-old resident of Neshoba County, has entered a guilty plea for aggravated sexual abuse of a minor on the Choctaw Indian Reservation. The incident occurred in September 2017 in the Tucker Community of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

Amos, indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2022, engaged in a sexual act with a minor aged between 12 and 16, according to court records. The charges were brought forth following an investigation by the Choctaw Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Scheduled for sentencing on April 11, 2024, Amos faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. A federal district judge will determine the sentencing decision.

This is not Amos’s first encounter with the legal system; he previously pleaded guilty to burglary, and the sentencing for that case is pending.

U.S. Attorney Todd Gee and Acting Special Agent in Charge Jessica Orench of the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced the guilty plea. The prosecution team includes Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin J. Payne and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian K. Burns.
