Picayune Gears Up for Grand MLK Day Parade

The city of Picayune is eagerly preparing for a significant celebration in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 15th. This year’s event promises a poignant reflection on Dr. King’s legacy, featuring distinguished speakers, a grand parade, and a commemorative service.
Distinguished Speakers and Grand Marshals: Mrs. Jasmine Cochran has been announced as the 2024 MLK Speaker, bringing her unique perspective and inspiring words to the event. Dr. Pamela Thomas and Mr. Leavern Guy, esteemed figures in the community, will serve as Grand Marshals, leading the festivities with grace and honor.
Musical Highlights: Minister Jennifer Bradley, as the soloist, will add a musical touch to the celebration, contributing to the uplifting atmosphere of the day. The KIPP Academy Marching Band, a renowned ensemble, will also be part of the event, enhancing the festive spirit with their dynamic performances.
Parade Route and Details: The parade from Manna Ministries is scheduled to commence at 9:30 am, located at 120 A Street (Suite A). The procession will wind its way through the streets of Picayune, creating a vibrant spectacle of unity and celebration. The route will conclude at Rose Of Sharon COGIC, situated at 500 N. Beech St. The carefully planned route aims to engage the community and encourage participation from residents of all ages.
Commemorative Service: Following the parade, a solemn and reflective Commemorative Service will take place at ROSE OF SHARON C.O.G.I.C. This segment of the event will allow attendees to reflect on the profound impact of Martin Luther King Jr. and to renew their commitment to the principles of equality and justice.
