Two people were arrested for drug related offenses after they were pulled over for a routine driving violation.
Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison said that the deputy conducted the stop on May 10, just before 9 p.m. when a vehicle was seen running a stop sign at the intersection of Gum Pond Beall Road and Tee Road.
While conducting the stop, the deputy could smell raw marijuana from within the vehicle and see vacuum sealed cereal bars, later determined to contain THC, on the rear seat.
A search of the vehicle found marijuana residue, 62 THC infused cereal bars, a vape pen with a THC cartridge that displayed a cartoon character, 20 additional THC cartridges with the same character, digital scales with marijuana residue, and a total of $1,008 in cash between both suspects. A handgun was also found in the vehicle along with six packages of a candy rope with a label that stated the product contained 400 mg of THC, Allison said.
The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Keevon Falls, of 900 West Count Ave., Lumberton and 20-year-old Ahmad Hamad Jeffery Lacoust Dalton, of 203 Fifth St., Lumberton were both arrested for trafficking a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm. Fells was additionally arrested for disregard of a traffic device, Allison said.
