Carriere resident, Michael Wayne Dossett, 38, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for possession a firearm as a convicted felon on Sep. 27, according to a Department of Justice press release.

On April 17, 2017, a search warrant was executed at Dossett’s home where firearms, 152 rounds of ammunition, a ballistic vest and various gang paraphernalia were seized, the release states.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were investigating Simon City Royals criminal street gang activity in Pearl River County at the time, according to the release.

Dossett’s previous felony convictions are for robbery and possession of cash in a correctional facility, the release states.

Dossett was ordered to forfeit six firearms, including a stolen SKS 7.62 caliber rifle with an extended magazine, the release states.

According to the release, U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden also ordered Dossett to pay a $3,000 fine and his prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.
