Richard S. Carnett Sr.

Private Graveside Memorial Services for Richard S. Carnett Sr., age 101, of Carriere, MS, who passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019, were held at McNeill Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Rev. Seth Stanley officiated the service.

A native of Lubbock, TX,  he was retired from the United States Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. Richard was an adventurer and world traveler. He was a Past Venerable Master of the Masonic Lodge # 63, AF and AM  in Montrose, CO. He was a 32 Degree Mason, Knight Templar, a Shriner, Scottish Rite, and a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge for 67 years. Richard was a Lifetime Member of the American Radio Relay League, and his call name was N5PEN, and a past president of the Pearl River County Ham Radio Club. He was a life member of the Old Timers Group, OOTC-2755. Richard was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dee Carnett I and Stella Southard Carnett; his wife, Emmaleen Carnett; his son, John Dee Carnett II; his sister, Lucille Warden; his brother, Durward Carnett; and his grandson-in-law, Paul B. Miller.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted children, Nettie Jane Carnett-Kennedy, Karen Ann Howard (Clay Howard), and Richard “Rick” S. Carnett, Jr (Flora Carnett); 5 grandchildren, Travis Dee Kennedy (Crystal), Jennifer A. Bryant (Jeff), Karen M. Davis (Mike), Jordan Carnett, and Jonah Carnett (Kalee); 6 great grandchildren, Savannah Kennedy, Jackson Bryant, Cade Kennedy, Carey Jane Miller, Jenner Bryant, and Luke David Carnett; nephew, Walter “Tex” Carnett (Carol); great nephews, great nieces, and cousins.
