(Update: Christopher Doucette was arrested in New Orleans by law enforcement at an alleged drug house on the afternoon of Sept. 18, 2019, on an unrelated offense, said Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden. Efforts to have Doucette extradited back to Pearl River County are underway. Nicholas Miller is still wanted in connection with his alleged involvement in the case described below.)

 

Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department are looking for two men in relation to a number of vehicle thefts between two cases.

Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said one of the cases began on Aug. 13, when deputies were called to the area of the 1300 block of West Union Road after two Chevrolet pickup trucks were taken from the home.

On Aug. 19, the department received another call from the area of Frog Pond Road that a Ford F250 had been stolen from a home in the area.

The Chevrolet trucks were later located in two separate locations, one was found on Aug. 25 on the side of the road in New Orleans and the other was found two days later in Hancock County. Monday, deputies saw the stolen Ford F250 near a home on West Union Road and two men fleeing from the vehicle who eluded capture, Ogden said.

Investigation into the cases led to the identification of a possible suspect, Nicholas Kirk Miller, 32, of 110 Fred Stain Rd., and enough evidence to secure a warrant for his arrest for felony taking of a motor vehicle. Ogden said that investigators are working to identify the second person seen fleeing from the Ford F250 and he expects additional warrants to be issued for Miller’s arrest in relation to the thefts of the two Chevrolet trucks.

Instances of other items being stolen from the area of West Union Road could also be tied to Miller, Ogden said. Miller is also wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for not reporting to his probation officer, the chief investigator said.

Since the vehicles involved in this case were left unlocked with the keys inside, Ogden advises Pearl River County residents to not only remove the keys from their vehicles, but to lock the doors as well.

Investigators are also working another case involving stolen vehicles, this time two vehicles were allegedly taken by 43-year-old Christopher Doucette of 171 Ozona Road. The case began with a call from the victims who live in the 100 block of John Amacker Road reporting that their 2006 Suzuki Forenza had been stolen. Ogden said the vehicle still has not been located and it had a Mississippi tag number of PUI334.

Doucette is also being sought for taking a vehicle from his ex wife on Thursday morning. Ogden said the woman called deputies just before 7 a.m. to report that Doucette came to the house and asked her to give him a ride to another location. When she refused to give him a ride and told him to leave, a physical altercation ensued as he tried to take the keys from her, leading to warrants being issued for his arrest for grand larceny of a motor vehicle and simple assault.

Ogden said the vehicle is described as a dark gray 2018 Nissan Altima with a Mississippi tag number of PRD0976. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Doucette and/or Miller is asked to call 601-795-8841.
