Maroon Tide Touchdown Club seeking community participation this week

Members of the Picayune Maroon Tide Touchdown Club are speaking to local businesses and organization in an effort to boost attendance in what may be the last home game of the team’s season.
With Friday’s win, the Tide secured a home game this week. But Touchdown Club members Derek Turnage, Bobby Franklin and Jarel Myers feel it may be the Tide’s last as they work their way to a chance at the state title.
As such, the Touchdown Club would like to send the Maroon Tide into their post season with a bang at this week’s home game against Natchez.
To boost that participation, they are offering a free ticket for the Club’s $10,000 drawdown to the group who shows the most school spirit that evening. Franklin, who is president of the Maroon Tide Touchdown Club, said he will provide that ticket to the winning group, the winner of which will be determined by an unbiased group of judges. The winner will be announced Friday evening at some point between 5:30 and 6 p.m.
Participants are asked to stage up their tailgating tent and festivities on the practice field, located on the home side of the Lee/Triplett Stadium at Picayune Memorial High School.
Community members from across Pearl River County, no matter what team they support in the regular season, are invited to come and show support to the Maroon Tide on Friday, Turnage said.
“We need the community to come out and fill the stands,” Turnage said.
Franklin said that the Tide was recently ranked as the first in the state for rushing yards, and 10th in the nation for the same achievement.
Tickets for the drawdown will be sold at the game and the winner will be named during the drawdown on Dec. 15.
