The eighth annual Puttin’ on the Pink breast cancer treatment assistance fundraiser will offer a new theme and bring a band back together.
Abbie Turnage, chair of the Puttin’ on the Pink foundation, said that this year’s event will be held on Oct. 13, at the Camillia, located at 27360 Highway 603, Perkinston, from 6 to 10 p.m.
This year’s theme will be Havana Nights. Tickets for the event will be $35 for a single ticket, or $60 for two.
Two bands will take the stage during this year’s fundraiser, including The One Man Show Charles CC Carter and Boley Creek Band. Turnage said that this will be a one night reunion show for Boley Creek Band.
Funds raised from the event will be used to provide mammograms to Pearl River County residents and help those diagnosed with breast cancer with other transportation expenses and prescription costs.
Last year the organization provided 70 mammogram vouchers to local residents along with $5,000 in financial assistance to women receiving treatment for breast cancer. Those funds also helped patients receive diagnostic testing, mammograms and ultrasounds.
Additional funds are being raised through the sale of T-shirts and raffle tickets for Yeti products.
Turnage said that tickets will be available until next week and can be acquired by sending a message to the organization’s Facebook page or by calling Puttin’ on the Pink President Loren Fortenberry at 601-590-4690.
