Earlier this month during a week’s time, three people were arrested by the Picayune Police Department for narcotics related offenses.

Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said on Aug. 5, just after 10 a.m., officers were patrolling East Canal St. when they saw a suspicious green Ford parked by the rear of a local business with a man standing beside the driver side door. Magri said the officers knew the business was closed, so they stopped and made contact with the man, who was identified as Ervin Guidry, 34, 170 Old Crossroads, Poplarville.

While speaking with Guidry, officers saw a black clip board through the open door –in plain sight in the middle of the front seat, Magri said. The board was covered with a white, powdery crystal residue officers believed to be methamphetamine.

Further investigation led to Guidry being arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Magri said.

Five days later on Aug. 10 at 2:40 a.m. officers patrolling an area of Highway 11 near 7th street saw a shirtless man walking along the highway, Magri said. Since it was so early in the morning and the man was close to storage units commonly plagued by burglaries, officers spoke to the man, identified as Jeffrey Bridges, 28, 125 Eloise St, Picayune, Magri said. After running an NCIC check on Bridges, officers discovered he had a parole violation warrant with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Magri said he was arrested and transported to the Criminal Justice Center where a more thorough search of his person revealed he had a plastic bag full of what was believed to be methamphetamine hidden in his right sock. 

Bridges was arrested for the warrant and possession of a controlled substance, Magri said.

Two days later, on Aug. 12 at about 10 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local business on Memorial Boulevard after receiving a call about a suspicious person, Magri said. When officers arrived, they made contact with the man, identified as Jeremy Anderson, 34, of 52 Haven Road, Picayune.

Magri said that while officers were conducting a safety pat down, Anderson threw his wallet on the ground. Officers picked up the wallet and saw a plastic bag sticking out of it, determined to be filled with a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, Magri said. After searching the wallet further, officers also found a small bag with a brown powder they believed to be heroin.

Anderson was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Magri said.
