Monday evening, the Poplarville School Board of Trustees held a brief meeting to discuss routine business.
The meeting began with the Board’s approval of a collaborative agreement with Picayune Early Head Start.
Poplarville School District Special Education Director Shannon Anderson said the agreement provides access to Poplarville residents to services provided by Picayune’s Early Head Start program for children up to 2 years of age.
In other matters, the Board accepted two test based grants from the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation.
The first grant was for $1,890 and will be used by the District’s U.S.A. Test Prep Educational Online Program. Another grant totaling $6,000 will be used to conduct the ACT KeyTrain Curriculum Remediation Program.
Superintendent Carl Merritt said the financial support will help students taking these tests.
In a separate matter, bids were accepted to apply herbicide to 99 acres of 16th section land. Shawn Harrison with the Mississippi Forestry Commission recommended the Board approve the lowest bid to Timco Acre LLC at a cost of $78.69 per acre.
During review of the District’s cash balance statement, cash flow statement and statement of revenue and expenditures,
Finance Director Samantha Sandifer said the District is in good shape financially.
