Picayune Police officers recently arrested a Picayune man who was wanted in Ohio for offenses including aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said that on June 25, Picayune Police officers were dispatched to the location of a possible fight. When they arrived, one of the individuals had fled on foot, Magri said. The other, identified as Shaquille O’Neill Causey, 37, 1357 7th Ave., Picayune, was detained by officers. A check of Causey’s record showed that he was wanted for three warrants with the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department for kidnapping, Magri said. He was then arrested and a hold was put on him until he can be extradited to Ohio.
Sandusky Sheriff’s Department Capt. Zachary J. Zender said there was an aggravated robbery in Freemont, Ohio back in 2015. During the robbery, two unknown black males entered a residence and attempted to rob the three individuals inside at gunpoint. The two men escaped and neither were identified until recently when DNA evidence showed Causey was involved, Zender said. While the second individual has not yet been identified, Zender hopes when Causey is brought to Ohio, more information will come to light.
Zender said Picayune and Freemont have had close ties for years, with a lot of people in the two cities sharing family ties. Although Causey is originally from Picayune, Zender said it was not too surprising that he was in Ohio due to the number of people who travel between the two cities.
Zender said the U.S. Marshal Service will bring Causey to Sandusky from Picayune, so he hopes he will be in their custody in the next few weeks.
