Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department are looking for a couple missing from the Barth community.
Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the case began with a call from concerned family members saying they had not heard from 61-year-old Kathleen Bowman since Mother’s Day. Deputies went to the home to conduct a welfare check, but only found Bowman’s husband at home. When they spoke with the husband, 61-year-old Charles Eugene Bowman, at the couple’s home located at 68 Owl Hoot Rd., they were ultimately unable to make contact with Kathleen.
A call from another Gulf Coast law enforcement agency provided additional information that led to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department securing a search warrant for the home on Owl Hoot Road, Ogden said.
In that search, investigators found what they suspected to be human remains. Those remains were sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab, where it was confirmed they were of human origin, Ogden said.
The next step will be to identify those through DNA testing, Ogden said.
Investigators are currently seeking Charles and Kathleen Bowman.
Ogden a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Charles Bowman on the offenses of providing false information to a law enforcement officer and felony aggravated domestic assault.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 601-798-5528.
