Picayune Main Street is gearing up for another Christmas in July event set for next week.

The shopping event will take place in downtown Picayune and last from July 1 to July 13, during which a number of participating merchants will offer daily specials.

Picayune Main Street Director Reba Beebe said shoppers can register for a chance to win a gift basket with each $10 purchase between July 1-13. The winners will be announced Saturday, July 14, she said.

Beebe said this year shoppers can participate in a selfie contest. It involves taking a selfie with downtown business owners and posting that picture on the business’ social media page. One shopper will win $50 in cash, she said.

Beebe said this will give shoppers a chance to learn about businesses in downtown Picayune and interact with business owners.

On July 13, at 6 p.m. shoppers can have their picture taken with Bahama Santa, Mrs. Claus and Kenny the Elf.

A concession stand will open at 6:30 p.m., and the Downtown Movie Night screening of “The Star,” will begin at 7:30 p.m., Beebe said.
