On Saturday, the Crosby Arboretum’s annual Forge Day brought blacksmithing to life, allowing visitors to witness the art of metalworking up close. Experienced artisans demonstrated traditional forging techniques, and residents and children got hands-on experience shaping metal.

Among those participating in the event were Larry House, Paul LeBatard, Seth Borries, Chuck Averett, Andrew Swift, Robert Flynt, Kattengell Jared, and Kade Daniels. Each artisan shared their knowledge, demonstrating different blacksmithing techniques and guiding attendees in hammering, shaping, and forging metal into small keepsakes.

The event, a longtime tradition at the Arboretum, drew a crowd eager to learn about the history and craftsmanship behind blacksmithing. Children and adults alike watched in fascination as glowing pieces of metal were heated in forges and skillfully shaped on anvils. Many took the opportunity to try their hand at striking hot iron under the guidance of experienced blacksmiths.
