NASA Awards Five Employees with Prestigious Silver Snoopy

NASA’s Stennis Space Center recognized five employees with the Space Flight Awareness Silver Snoopy award on Aug. 21 during an onsite ceremony led by astronaut Reid Wiseman.

Stephen O’Neill, a native of Poplarville, Mississippi, received the award for his role as an industrial hygienist in the Center Operations Directorate at NASA Stennis. He was acknowledged for his contributions to achieving engine and stage test project goals for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.

William Berry, a native of Diamondhead, Mississippi, and resident of Picayune, Mississippi, was honored for his work as a metrology technician for Alutiiq Essential Services, LLC. Berry was recognized for his efforts to improve the operations of the Measurement Standards and Calibration Laboratory and ensure the timely delivery of customer equipment.

Benjamin Stevens, a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and resident of Picayune, Mississippi, received the award for his work as an information technology specialist for the NASA Shared Services Center. Stevens was recognized for improving the integration and security of the center’s IT telecommunications and networking environment.

Tessa Keating, a native and resident of Carriere, Mississippi, was honored for her work in the NASA Stennis Office of Communications. Keating was recognized for communicating NASA’s mission to various audiences.

Steven Wood, a native and resident of Picayune, Mississippi, received the Silver Snoopy for his work as a NASA contract specialist at the NASA Shared Services Center. Wood was recognized for completing several high-profile contract actions for NASA’s Early-Stage Innovation and Partnerships programs.

The Silver Snoopy Award, presented by NASA astronauts, is given to less than 1 percent of the total NASA workforce annually. It recognizes significant contributions to flight safety and mission success.

Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who will command the upcoming Artemis II mission, presented the awards. The Space Flight Awareness Program acknowledges the outstanding job performance of NASA employees and contractors, focusing on quality and safety in support of human spaceflight.
