Funeral service will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 at 2 p.m., in Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church for Christine Frelix Doby, age 93, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away July 31, 2024 in  St. Oaks Care Center Assisted Living, Carriere, Miss.

The Rev. Henry Marshall will officiate at the service.  Burial will be in Picayune Cemetery, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

A native of  Hub, Miss.  She was a retired school teacher, she graduated from Alcorn State University, with a Master Degree. She was a Charter Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  Christine was a member of Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church and served as Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Superintendent, Announcing Clerk, Senior Choir, Senior Mission, and Deaconess, Former President of Miss. Home Economics  Section, Former President of Retired Teachers of Pearl Pearl River County, District Adviser of New Homemakers of America, and other organizations, AHEA, AVA, Etc., Fifth Sunday Singing Announcing Clerk, and Sunday School Teacher for the Fifth Sunday Sunday School Union.

Survivors include her husband, Lex Doby of Picayune, Miss., four step-children, Kevin Lex (Felicia) Doby, of Fayetteville, Ga., Constance Doby of Picayune, Miss. and  Karen (Samuel) Robinson, Lyndhurst, Ohio; four step-grandchildren, Khayla and Kalen Doby, Nicholas B. Blackshire, Noah S. Robinson, one step-great-granddaughter, Kendall Blackshire; one brother, the Rev. Floyd Lee Frelix; one  sister, Loretta F. Williams; a host of  nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death is one step-daughter, Jeanetta F. Doby; parents, Johnnie and Johnnie Mae Frelix; siblings, John L. and Charlie Frelix, Sarah F. Haggerty and Almettia F. Dunbar.

Visitation will be held,  Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 from 1 p.m., until 2 p.m., at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
