Hal Mark Schrock was born on July 7, 1953, and passed peacefully to his eternal home surrounded by family on June 21, 2024, at his residence in Gulfport, Miss.
Hal Mark was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in January of 2016. Together, he and his wife Pam started on a journey with a positive attitude to fight back by stepping outside the box of the usual regimen by combining both traditional and nontraditional treatments. This bold move resulted in adding extra years of quality life for the couple. They were able to enjoy overseas travel and adventures in ballooning, snow sports, and hiking in beautiful, mountainous scenery. Hal Mark continued to be an avid runner. He relished a great sail with their friends or a fast and furious ride in a motor boat. He owned his own plane and was passionate about flying and taking others along for the ride. Not only did Hal enjoy these activities, the man could sing! He sang Elvis better than Elvis! He even had an Elvis costume to dress the part, and yes, he had the moves down, too. His signature laugh rang out at get-togethers with old friends. He always had funny jokes and hysterical stories that kept his friends in stitches. Hal Mark was a lover of animals, and he especially had a soft heart for dogs. In fact, he had a talent as being somewhat of a dog whisperer, and he impressed his friends with this uncanny capability. In the past years before his illness, Hal Mark was a serious mountain climber with impressive accomplishments. Picayune High School was proud to call him one of their own when he graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis. Dr. Hal Mark Schrock had a successful dental practice in Picayune where he practiced for over 40 years. His professional affiliations were memberships in The American Dental Association, The Mississippi Dental Association, and The Academy of General Dentistry. Hal Mark was a charter member of The Pearl River County Community Band and served as the band’s first president. He was a member of The Krewe of the Pearl and was crowned King in 2018.
Hal Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James L. Schrock and Charleen Furr Schrock.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Pamela Gill Schrock; his sons, Kevin Schrock and Daryl Schrock (Jessie); daughter, Kristen Schrock (Anthony Craft); stepsons, Jay Romero (Natasha) and David Gordon (Kim); one granddaughter, Hallie Michelle Craft, his namesake; two step-grandsons, Micah Romero and Ethan Craft; two step-granddaughters, Mikayla Romero and Emily Craft. He also leaves behind a brother, Dr. Kurt Schrock; a nephew, Dr. Benjamin Schrock (Erika); two nephews, Parker and Ford. Hal Mark also leaves behind three beloved fur children, Piper, Maurice, and Macy.
Hal was grateful for the extended life that the good Lord had granted, and he gave much of the credit to his loving wife Pam, who had given him encouragement and walked the walk every step alongside of him. Knowing that all good things must come to an end, this man was fully prepared for what was waiting for him behind The Pearly Gates. Not only would he be reunited with old friends and family and walk along the side of Jesus, he was confident that he could have all the chocolate cake and Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream that his heart desired.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Picayune, MS; PRC SPCA; Teen Challenge; or PRC Community Band.
