The local SPCA animal shelter is currently over capacity and has a critical need for adoptions. The shelter houses 28 dogs and 18 puppies waiting over 90 days for adoption. To address this situation, the SPCA is hosting a Long-Term Resident Adoption Special from Friday, May 17, to Friday, May 24.
During this special, adoption fees for these long-term dogs and puppies will be reduced to $75-$100. Additionally, a Meet and Greet event will be held at the shelter on the evening of May 24, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, allowing potential adopters to meet some of the animals available for adoption.
The shelter has over 50 dogs and puppies, ranging from 3 months to 4 years old, eligible for the adoption special. Local vendors will also be present at the Meet and Greet event, including the Hot Mess Food Truck, Danro Bazaar, Early Go Getters Eggs, Rise and Bake, PT&C Creations, Yunity Nutrition, Mamma D’s Snack Shack, Brandy Gill – Handcrafted Earrings/Jewelry, Smile Doctors, Fleet Street Beard Co., Lynch’s Creative Vinyl, and Walmart.
“We hope many will come and enjoy the evening and meet some of these wonderful longtime dogs and pups,” said an SPCA representative. “These pets are friendly and have been waiting patiently for their own home.”
