Doris Mary Gettys Arcement

Doris Mary Gettys Arcement, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and pillar of her community, peacefully transitioned on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the age of 81, accepting the embrace of her Lord and Savior. Doris shared an unwavering bond of love and companionship with her beloved husband, Remy Francis Arcement Jr., spanning 63 years – a testament to the depth of their connection.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and familial devotion, survived by her cherished children, Remy F. Arcement III (Debra), Jeffrey W. Arcement Sr. (Loren), and Patrick M. Arcement Sr. (Melissa), who were at the heart of her world. Doris’ nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mary Arcement Conners (Cory), Patrick M. Arcement Jr., Jeffrey Arcement Jr., Christian Arcement, Jonathan Arcement, Jacob P. Arcement, Claire Arcement Powell, Rachel M. Arcement, Cory James Conners Jr., Morgan Ann Conners, and Mary Anne Powell, and her beloved sister, Joyce Gettys. Doris’ commitment to her faith was exemplified through her role as a Devout Catholic and Eucharistic Minister, and her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly through her ownership of God’s Blessings, a cherished religious store in St. Bernard Parish.
She now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her parents, Warren H. Gettys and Joyce G. Burgdorf; her step-father, Louis Burgdorf; and her brother, Warren A. Gettys. Doris’ memory will forever be cherished by her adoring family, friends, and countless lives she touched with her kindness and grace.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 3 p.m., at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Picayune, Miss.
There will be a visitation prior to the Mass from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Burial will be in the New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune, Miss.. Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
