Noma Faye Lee, 89, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024. She was born August 3, 1934, in Caesar, where she
lived her whole life. Her parents were the late Otis and Clemmie Jones Lee. Siblings were the late Lecil L.
Lee, Mabeline Lee Bridges, Garland O. Lee, and Jacqueline Lee Rowell. She is survived by many nieces
and nephews.
After graduation from Pearl River Central High School, Faye helped run the Lee Grocery Store at the
intersection of Bouie and Caesar roads. She was also a devoted daughter, taking care of her mother
throughout her long illness and battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Additionally, she was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, worked in
the nursery and was part of the janitorial staff for many years. She also worked as a Kindergarten
assistant at Union Baptist School where she was a loving and faithful teacher for an untold number of
youngsters who lovingly refer to her as “Miss Faye.”
Jokes and funny stories, many made up from her imagination, were her way of soothing upset children
or amusing her many friends. Her sense of humor and positive Christian attitude endeared her to all
who knew her.
Her love of flowers and gardening was another way that she expressed her creative side. She planted
and maintained the “Faye Lee Park” located across Caesar road from the Lee home. The site is now part
of the Center Water Association.
Faye Lee will always be in our hearts, and her love of God, her family, friends and church will remind us
to treasure the things that matter–love and serve God, cherish family and friends.
The family greatly appreciates the care and support of staff, nurses and doctors of Picayune
Rehabilitation and Healthcare and Homecare Hospice.
