A two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening resulted in seven people being injured, two of which had to be transported to a hospital by helicopter.
Trooper Calvin Robertson with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the collision occurred along Highway 43 N. just before 7 p.m. near Harvey Burks Road.
While the collision is still under investigation, it appears as though a Ford F-150 crossed the center line into the path of a Chevrolet Impala. Two people were in the pickup truck, while five people were in the car.
One person from each vehicle had to be transported to an area hospital via helicopter, while the rest went to Highland Community Hospital in Picayune. Robertson said that no fatalities have been reported as a result of the collision.
The involvement of alcohol or drugs are not suspected to have been a contributing factor in the collision, he said.
