The third annual City Wide Worship event will be held Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Crosby Commons.
The annual event will feature singing, dancing and worship. Event organizers ask attendees to practice social distancing and encourage the use of face masks, although face masks are not required.
“Our goal is to come together with one voice to make one sound,” said Director Dominick Hart.
Worship will be led by Missionary Karrin Williams. The event will include featured guests Caleb Rabion and Ashlea Mckenzie, along with the City Wide Worship Band. The mistress of ceremonies will be Kim Williams.
Organizers recommend bringing lawn chairs and umbrellas. Face masks will be available for anyone who does not have one and hand sanitizer will be available.
“The goal was to set a place of worship to bring people together of all races and creeds, that we may worship the Lord in one accord,” said Angel Robinson, with First Cornerstone Baptist.
In previous years, the event has led to some beautiful moments, said organizer Vinner Scott. She finds significance in the venue of the event previously being the site of a hospital.
“On this ground a lot of healing took place. On this soil the city will be healed,” said Scott.
Scott believes the event will offer the city an opportunity to come together in the wake of several tumultuous weeks.
“The timing is perfect so that we can come together as a city—not as a church or as a community, but as a city,” she said.
Churches collaborating to hold the event include First Cornerstone Baptist, the Life Church, Newness of Life, Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ and World Harvest Outreach. There will also be vendor booths for event sponsors. Businesses can still sign up to sponsor the event by contacting Hart at 601-215-4840.
