The remains of the man who was hit by a passenger train Monday morning have been located and identified.
Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said the man was identified as 34-year-old Lonnie Reynolds of Biloxi. His cause of death is being listed as due to blunt force trauma sustained in the collision.
His remains were found about a mile south of the rail trestle he and an adult female were walking on when they were hit by an Amtrak train just after 8:30 a.m.
The female who was also hit by the train has been identified as 27-year-old Camerine Malley, said Maj. Marc Ogden with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.
The two were on a train trestle located at the state line of Mississippi and Louisiana near Nicholson when the collision occurred.
She was transported by helicopter to a New Orleans hospital for treatment of serious injuries, previous coverage states.
Neither Turnage nor Ogden had an update concerning her condition as of Wednesday.
