A Picayune Police Department safety checkpoint conducted May 16 resulted in drug related charges for a Picayune man.

That Saturday, officers came into contact with Diangelo Durr, 42, of 313 East 3rd St., Picayune, at a safety checkpoint at the intersection of Williamsburg Road and South Beech Street, according to a press release from Assistant Chief Dustin Moeller.

The release states that Durr was found to have Suboxone in his possession without a prescription and was arrested for possession of Suboxone with intent to distribute. By press time Friday, Moeller did not respond to a request for comment on how police found that Durr had Suboxone in his possession.

During a search of the vehicle a substance suspected to be heroin was found. The release states that Durr claimed ownership of that substance.

When Durr arrived at the Criminal Justice Center, jail staff found substances suspected to be powder cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana in his possession, states the release.
Narcotics detectives secured a search warrant for Durr’s residence, 313 East 3rd Street, Picayune. In the subsequent search of his home, detectives recovered almost a quarter ounce of suspected heroin, an eighth of an ounce of suspected cocaine and buprenorphine hydrochloride pills, according to the release.

Durr was arrested for six counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, three counts of introducing contraband into a correctional facility, felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance for a total bond of $188,000.

At the time of his arrest on May 16, Durr was also out on a felony bond for a previous arrest for sale of a controlled substance and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance charges.
Those bonds were revoked by a judge as a result of his most recent arrest.
