A single vehicle accident on I-59 that occurred on Jan. 18 resulted in the death of 80-year-old Charles Windham.

Windham, of Metterie La., was driving a white Ford pickup when his vehicle left the roadway near mile marker 10, impacted the guardrail and flipped over the guardrail, said Capt. Kerry McGill with the Picayune Police Department. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.

Police were dispatched at approximately 2:58 p.m., and the fire department also responded to the scene. Emergency responders were able to get Windham out of his vehicle, but he died at the scene, McGill said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
