Southern Physical Therapy Clinic now open in Picayune

Two weeks ago a new physical therapy clinic opened in Picayune, but the staff there have been serving this area for far longer.
John Houston, PT, said that he has been providing physical therapy care to Pearl River County residents at their homes since 1996. He got some help in providing that care to the community in 2017 when Adam Robin, PT, DPT, joined the staff upon his graduation.
After receiving requests to come to their office for treatment, Houston and Robin discussed the possibility of opening a clinic in the Picayune area. They later found their ideal location at 1620 Highway 11 S. Suite E and began work to renovate the building back in October of last year.
At their new location, Southern Physical Therapy Clinic provides services that can help people dealing with movement issues and pain, Robin said. Those issues can crop up due to injuries during daily activities at the home or on the job, or can be the result of recent surgery, such as hip or knee replacement. Other patients who may benefit from physical therapy may have suffered a stroke or heart attack, underwent a bypass surgery or have been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Robin said he and Houston have experience with all of those issues and more.
Individualized treatment plans are outlined using a combination of a patient’s medical history, an assessment of that person’s pain or mobility issues, and then determining the goals the patient would like to reach, Robin said.
From his past experience as a personal trainer, Robin said he understands that athletes may also need assistance dealing with pain so they can get back to being their best on the field or court.
“We help them get back to their sport,” Robin said.
Their services can also help people build up their balance and endurance and can help reduce and prevent falls.
Other services include electrostimulation, ultrasound and geriatric care.
Southern Physical Therapy Clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. After hours services are also available in certain circumstances if previous arrangements can be made. Staff can be reached by calling 769-242-2626 or by sending an email to info@southernptclinic.com. More information can be found by visiting the business’ website at www.southernptclinic.com.
