Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at noon at East Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Brian K. Dees is Pastor. Rev. Edward Stubbs will officiate at the service.
Timothy Dewayne Merrill, aka Sleepy, age 48, answered his Master’s call on Friday, February 1, 2019. He was born January 19, 1971 in Laurel, MS to Tommie Lee Simmons, Jr. and the late Evelyn Juanita Merrill. He attended Picayune Schools and Job Corp in Gulfport, MS where he completed a trade in Auto Mechanic.
Timothy was a member of East Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Alonzo Dees. He was employed at A&D Auto Detail as the Shop Manager & Mechanic. Timothy was a very skillful person, one who could fix just about anything.
Timothy was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Merrill.
He leaves loving memories to cherish; his father, Tommie (Gail) Simmons; two sons, Daquan Gilmore and Tamiljah Merrill; one daughter, Jasmine Merrill of Poplarville, MS; two sisters, LaSonya (Glenn) Vaughn of Fort Worth, TX and Cynthia (Derrick) Ducre of Picayune; two grandchildren, Jocelyn Gilmore and Chastin Gilmore of Poplarville; two aunts, Judith (Manning) Jones of Picayune and Rose (Conel) Bolden of Slidell, LA.
Timothy will be forever remembered by a special friend, Lachandra Hinton and a host of other relatives, extended family and dear friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery. The repast will be held at The Grand, 217 South Curran Avenue, Picayune, MS 39466.
