Krewe of the Pearl to hold parade Saturday afternoon

The Krewe of the Pearl will hold its annual Mardi Gras parade on Saturday. This year’s theme is “Pirates of the Pearl.”
Krewe of the Pearl committee member Tana Cochran said the parade will start at 2 p.m. from Crosby Commons on Goodyear Boulevard.
This year’s route will take the parade from the park, take a right on Main Street, another right on West Canal Street and a right on Kirkwood before ending back at Crosby Commons.
This year’s parade is expected to last about an hour and will feature an after party at Crosby Commons when the parade ends.
While there won’t be any vendors at the park, participants are invited to bring food and drink and enjoy the music that will be provided, Cochran said.
Krewe of the Pearl co-chair Tina Stockstill said about 12 entries for the parade have registered so far, which includes floats, cars and marching groups.
A number of people riding horses are expected as well.
Entry fees vary according to the type of entry.
Float entry fees can range from $35 to $50 depending on the size.
Vehicles can be entered for $20.
Stockstill said that anyone wishing to march or ride in the parade can still register until the day of by simply showing up and paying the entry fee.
