Poplarville School District’s Board of Trustees heard from the principals of each campus during Tuesday’s meeting concerning the most recent statewide assessments.
Superintendent Carl Merritt said that the presentations focused on the ranking each school received during the most recent assessment.
He said that Poplarville High School received a ranking of A, while all others in the District received a ranking of B.
Merritt said that there was also discussion by Poplarville High School administrators about the intention to improve the student’s ACT scores, while other administrators spoke about improving the test scores of the bottom percentile in the student body.
Merritt said that the Board also approved hiring two new school resource officers to replace those who had received promotions.
The next meeting of the Board will be Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. in the District office located on Julia Street in Poplarville.
