Two suspects are in custody and a third is on the run in relation to the theft of two stolen vehicles.
Chief Investigator Marc Ogden with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said the case began with a report of an abandoned vehicle, which developed into the theft of two vehicles in which three suspects are believed to have been involved.
On the morning of Nov. 16, deputies were sent to the dead end Third Avenue in Carriere to check out an abandoned vehicle. Investigation into the vehicle determined it had been stolen from in front of a Poplarville business.
Capt. Jimmy Steinkamp with the Poplarville Police Department said the vehicle had been stolen from Solace Hospice in Poplarville.
When the victim of the stolen vehicle arrived at Solace Hospice, it was determined that a second vehicle had also been taken from that location. Ogden said that investigative techniques located the vehicle at a home on Kingsway Drive in Picayune. In the home the deputies found two of the suspects involved in the theft of the vehicle, Tramell Banks, 18, of 210 Hop St., Poplarville and Isaac Bonner, 19, of 400 Highway 11 S., Poplarville. Both suspects were asleep when they were found in the home, and subsequently taken into custody for felony receiving stolen property, Ogden said.
Further investigation into the case determined that a third suspect was allegedly involved, Darrius Malek Tillman, of 314 Country Club Rd., Slidell, La. Ogden said that a warrant has been issued for Tillman’s arrest for felony receiving stolen property.
The chief investigator is asking for the public’s help in locating Tillman.
Anyone with information about Tillman’s whereabouts can contact the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department at 601-798-5528.
Steinkamp said that investigation into the case is ongoing.
