Terry Wayne Davis

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Michael Kelley is pastor.  Rev. John Guy will be the eulogist.

Terry Wayne Davis, affectionately know as “Starlight”, was born August 11, 1956 in Picayune, Mississippi to the late Clara Mae Bender and AC Davis. He went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2018 in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Terry was the third of four children. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age. He loved reading and would spend time daily reading the entire newspaper front to back. Terry also enjoyed playing and watching sports.

From Kindergarten to 7th grade, he attended Carver in Picayune. After his 7th grade year, the schools integrated and his 8th and 9th grade years he attended Picayune Memorial High School where he excelled in sports. During the summer prior to his 10th grade year he moved to Flint, Michigan to live with his sister Valarie. He attended Central High School his 10th grade year, Northwestern High School his 11th grade year, and graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1976.

After graduating, Terry enlisted in the U. S. Army. Upon being discharged, he moved back to Picayune where he held various construction jobs. In 1982, he began working for Tidewater with his brother Darrow. In 2000, after the death of his mom, he moved to Battle Creek, Michigan to be closer to his sister and brother. Between 2000 and the time of his passing, he lived between Grand Blanc, Michigan and Battle Creek.

Terry leaves to cherish his memory, his only child Terrance Goff; grand-children Derrion Elzy, Detrick Goff, Devin Gilmore, Quayshun Turner, Jaylon Boston, Khasidy Boston, Khristofer Boston, and Kennidi Boston;  great grand-children Leighton Elzy, Jaylynn Boston, Naveah Benton, and Tiana Bradley; sister Valarie Davis-Peterson; brothers Allen Davis (Sherra) and Darrow Davis (Tracey); brother-in-law Morris Peterson Sr; nieces, Tonda Peterson-Bryant (William), Kotrina Peterson; nephew Morris Peterson Jr; great nieces Meilani, Maliyah, Aleena, and Nathalia Peterson; great nephews Morris III and Alexander Peterson;  aunts Mary (Bae Mae) Richardson and Johnnie Mae Bender; uncles James Bender (Georgia) and Robert Bender along with a host of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in Little Providence Cemetery (Catahoula Community).
