Services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Pastor Rev. Donald Parker will officiate at the service; Rev. Dewitt McGowan is the Eulogist.
Jessie Lee McGowan, Jr. was born to the late Ruthie Mae McGowan-James and the late Jessie Lee Stubbs on December 4, 1955 in Picayune, Mississippi. He was educated in the George Washington Carver School System then to Picayune Memorial High School System.
“Jessie, Jr.” as he was so lovingly called, was previously employed at the City of Picayune Utilities Department until his health began to decline. His hobbies included fishing, playing dominoes, and playing music.
Jessie, Jr. ended his earthly existence to begin his heavenly journey on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
He will be joining previous family members as: His parents, Jessie Lee Stubbs, and Ruthie Mae McGowan-James; His Grandmother, Emma McGowan; and one brother, Billy Ray McGowan.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted, beautiful sister, Janice (Patrick) Nixon, of Picayune; one sister/Aunt, Margaret James, of Laurel, Mississippi; one Aunt, Diane (Willie C.) Dean, of Picayune; three Uncles, Dewitt (Annette) McGowan, of Franklin, Tennessee, Evangelist (Jennifer) McGowan, and Kinnis (Barbara) Bedenfield, of Pensacola, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in New Palestine Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
